David has over 17 years of expertise in delivering change and complex programmes of work for multiple large Edinburgh based financial institutions. He is an established and experienced project professional having previously held senior leadership and project / change manager roles. 

His wealth of experience, coupled with managing large project teams delivering multi-million-pound programmes of work, has honed a comprehensive and well-rounded skill set.  

He is both Scaled Agile and Lean Six Sigma Green Belt qualified.  

Thriving in new and challenging environments, David navigates complex situations with a keen eye for detail, continually promotes best practice to ensure successful project delivery whilst simultaneously reducing risk. He is strong promoter of open and honest communications, helping to ensure working partnerships go from strength to strength.  

Programme and Project Experience 

Throughout his career, David has managed a diverse range of projects, including large wholesale corporate strategic projects with £15m+ budgets such as rebranding and transition of services to new outsourced providers (both on and offshore) to smaller BAU continuous improvement changes. David has developed and implemented new working practices, corporate initiatives, and reshaped teams to ensure they are best in class and future fit.  

Beyond project execution, David possesses valuable experience in establishing and overseeing strategic portfolios, having reshaped programme and project team structures, implemented improved controls and processes whilst ensuring operational commitments / work in progress remains on track. As a direct outcome of these efforts, an increased number of projects were successfully delivered with existing FTE headcount.  

Leadership & Operational Experience  

As an experienced senior leader and portfolio manager, David has led large project teams across multiple locations to successfully deliver complex programmes of work. He is proficient in people management, budget management, risk reduction, operational readiness, and operational excellence. David knows what it takes for project teams to be successful and ensures teams deliver. 

Change Management Experience:

Programme Management  

  • Ownership and management of team delivering an annual multi-million-pound global operational continuous improvement programme.  
  • Ownership and management of a global key strategic outsourced supplier change programme.  
  • Multiple global transitions that include the implementation and termination of services. 
  • Managing Executive Steering Committee’s (including C-suite) 

 Project Management  

  • Managed the implementation and outsourcing of a harmonized client reporting project  
  • Managed the implementation of the creation of data master’s to support fund data provision to multiple external suppliers  
  • Managed the initial phase of a large corporate rebranding project including initial project setup and initial operational impact assessment 
  • Implementation of new products, such as – Repurchase Agreements, Stock Lending, Continuous Linked Settlement 
  • Transfer of assets (£10b+) to new service provider 
  • Multiple Fund consolidations, launches and closures  

Strategic Analysis  

  • Provided strategic guidance to set up Operational Change team, including team structure and development of a PMO team 
  • Strategic planning to support phased rebranding project  
  • Undertaken commercial analysis of contractual change documents (change schedules and Service Level Agreements)  

Business Analysis   

  • Internal and external stakeholder analysis and management, including running and facilitating user workshops and extensive stakeholder interviews  
  • Process mapping & process re-engineering, building multiple system and workstream swim lane process flows  
  • Requirements gathering including prioritisation (e.g., MoSCoW)  
  • Undertaking gap analysis to determine required change
  • Vendor selection and supplier management
  • Producing policy, process, and procedures for business users  
  • Working closely with project and programme to meet deadlines and support risk management
