Great Minds, Always Enabling.

IoT

IoT – Internet of Things – is rapidly emerging as a game changing way of running services, businesses and facilities across the World.  According to Gartner approximately 26 billion devices will be connected to IoT by 2020. It’s about connecting people to things…

IoT has the capability to deliver huge operational benefits to businesses across all sectors by allowing smart devices to connect to the internet to report faults, provide readings, provide updates and send alerts. Prosperity 24.7 are leveraging our partnerships with both Microsoft and 365 Agile to bring this innovation exclusively, to the Channel Islands of Jersey and Guernsey.

For an introduction to IoT watch the following from our partners, Microsoft:

People can connect to smart IoT devices and interact with them over the internet to gain information and updates on the status of devices.

The scope of application is as broad as your imagination, for Prosperity 24.7 we are focussing our investment in the following areas of application:

  • Assisted Living Solutions across the Community
  • Smart Asset Management in Social Housing and Hospitals
  • Energy Monitoring Solutions
  • Security Solutions
  • Property Care & Proactive Maintenance Solutions

The technologies that we are leveraging to bring this level of innovation to the Islands are Microsoft Azure IoT suite as well as Azure Machine Learning, leveraging the assets and know how of 365 Agile.

Benefits

IoT devices enable the capture of data from a variety of assets and environments. The data from smart sensors is securely streamed and linked to Agile 365’s business layer which contains rules about how to manage fluctuations in the data. For example a Temperature sensor will report readings at predefined intervals. If the temperature increases above ‘normal’ levels the business layer can automatically raise an alert to a qualified operative directly to their Smart Phone and/or Tablet with all of the asset or building details and the nature of the issue. This proactive early response could prevent a more serious or costly issue occurring and therefore saves time, money and increases uptime and/or availability.

What are the practical benefits?

IoT will allow the effective deployment and management of field-based teams by concentrating efforts on those devices that require attention. For example an organisation may completely rethink their planned or preventative maintenance schedule and instead allow the plant & machinery to ‘self-report’ when it needs maintenance visits or repairs. Areas such as Environmental Monitoring, Infrastructure Management, Building Automation, Medical & Healthcare and Energy Management are all key areas that could benefit the deployment of IoT.
