Prosperity Day 2023 raises over £24,700 for Macmillan Cancer Support Jersey and Cancer Research UK Jersey

Prosperity 24/7 and the 15 other teams who participated in Prosperity Day 2023 generated an amazing £24,700 for Macmillan Cancer Support Jersey and Cancer Research UK Jersey through pedal power in the ninth annual Prosperity Day virtual cycling challenge which took place on Friday 8 September.  The fundraising total will be split between the two charities and brings the total amount raised for local charities by Prosperity Day over the past nine years to almost £160,000.

Each team of three competed in a fast paced 30-minute race using Zwift 3D race technology and Wahoo Kickr turbo bike trainers to see who could achieve the furthest distance over the gruelling mythical mountains of Watopia, while in the build-up to the event needed to ensure that they undertook the all-important fundraising activities, to secure their space on the podium.

Race day performance and charity fundraising are the two essential factors needed to make it to a podium position. It isn’t just about speed, but more importantly about, money raised. This is fundamentally important to the charities who ultimately benefit 100% from the endeavours and the purpose of Prosperity Day which is to ensure our corporate community has a positive impact for local charities.

The final three teams who went ‘head-to-head-to-head’ on a virtual velodrome race to see who would take bragging rights on race performance, were Mourant, Axis Mason and Barclays, who had travelled the furthest distance in their heats.  Mourant were victorious in the race and even though they were pipped to the post by Brooks Macdonald’s fundraising, they achieved first place overall and defended their title from 2022.

  • Overall winners – 1st place – Mourant, 2nd place Brooks Macdonald, 3rd place – Axis Mason
  • Race winners – 1st place – Mourant, 2nd place – Axis Mason , 3rd place – Barclays
  • Top fundraisers – 1st place – Brooks Macdonald, 2nd place – Mourant, 3rd place – Style Group

Other participating teams were: Aztec Group, Bedell Cristin, Colin Smith Partnership, Deloitte, Highvern, Islands Insurance, JTC Group, Ogier, Ports of Jersey and PwC.

Chris Clark, Chief Executive Officer of Prosperity 24/7 said, “Once again our annual community event ran seamlessly, we are incredibly grateful to everyone involved for giving their time and energy to help us to raise an incredible amount to benefit two phenomenal charities who really make a difference to those suffering with cancer. We were delighted to host Prosperity Day for the first time from our new home on the waterfront and demonstrate our commitment to ensuring it continues to make a real impact. Next year’s 10th anniversary event will be even more special.”
