With the introduction of the new third generation HP StoreVirtual range in December 2012 HP is announcing the End Of Life (EOL) of the P4300 and P4500 G2 SAS nodes.
Interoperability between the new third gen nodes and the previous G2 nodes is provided by running the latest software platform, HP LeftHand OS 10.5, as long as the nodes added use the same disk technology and number of drives. In other situations, where the HP StoreVirtual models dont match the current in place G2 nodes then a new cluster should be deployed.

Thinking of replacement or expanding a current HP P4000 Installation?
The HP StoreVirtual 4000 product line offers direct replacement and expansion options for some, but not all P4000 G2 models. The following tables outline the available options for direct replacement or expansion within the same cluster. For HP P4000 G2 models not listed below, there is no direct replacement. If no direct replacement is available, HP recommends creating a new cluster and using HP Peer Motion to migrate volumes or swap clusters online as appropriate.
