Last month, Prosperity 24/7 joined several of the island’s leading businesses to support Beaulieu Convent School as sponsors for the STEAM Fair.

The event was designed to showcase innovations in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics. It was arranged by Beaulieu Science prefect, Scarlett, and the science department as an opportunity for girls from all of Beaulieu’s secondary school year groups to present projects they had worked on independently or as part of a team in their spare time.

Our Head of Strategic Delivery, Nick Jones, was honoured to visit Beaulieu to act as a judge. He was asked to award the Technology prize and vote for the best overall award.

“I was so incredibly impressed by all the entrants’ projects. The girls spoke with such passion and interest. I honestly learned a lot in my short time there. Who knew fruit had voltage? That toilet water (thanks to bleach) is cleaner than tap water? And that starch is less able to be broken down in the presence of high cortisol in the body? What was most impressive was the variety of apparatus and compounds that the girls were skilled enough to confidently use and measure to test their hypothesis. This was a real credit to the Science department and their approach to awe and wonder in the subject.”

The awards will be handed out in assembly in the coming weeks, but we would like to congratulate each and every entrant for their hard work; there will be some very worthy winners on the day.

Prosperity 24/7 is dedicated to inspiring the next generation of women in technology. We look forward to continuing our support for initiatives like this that empower young women to pursue their passions in STEAM fields.

Prosperity 24/7 and the 17 other teams who participated in Prosperity Day 2025 generated an amazing £18,247 for Macmillan Cancer Support Jersey and Kezia’s Fund through pedal power in the 11th annual Prosperity Day virtual cycling challenge which took place on Friday 27 June. The fundraising total will be split between the two charities and brings the total amount raised for local charities by Prosperity Day over 11 years to almost £204,000.

Cycling a total of 326km between them, each team of three competed in a fast paced 30-minute race using Zwift 3D race technology and Wahoo Kickr turbo bike trainers to see who could achieve the furthest distance over the ‘croissant’ route – a scenic but challenging cycle through the virtual Norman French countryside. Their race day performance was coupled with each team undertaking all-important fundraising activities, to secure their space on the podium.

Race day performance and charity fundraising are the two essential factors needed to make it to a podium position. It isn’t just about speed, but more importantly about, money raised. This is fundamentally important to the charities who ultimately benefit 100% from the endeavours and the purpose of Prosperity Day which is to ensure our corporate community has a positive impact for local charities.

The final three teams who went ‘head-to-head-to-head’ on a virtual velodrome race to see who would take bragging rights on race performance, were Mourant, Barclays and Big Maggy’s, who had travelled the furthest distance in their heats. Mourant were victorious in the race and topped the fundraising, so achieved first place overall and defended their title for a fourth consecutive year.

Overall winners – 1st place – Mourant, 2nd place JTC Group, 3rd place – Palmer

Race winners – 1st place – Mourant, 2nd place – Big Maggy’s , 3rd place – Barclays

Top fundraisers – 1st place – Mourant, 2nd place – HSBC, 3rd place – Palmer

Other participating teams were: Aztec Group, Bedell Cristin, Reto Finance, Islands Insurance, Ogier, PwC, KPMG, TMF Group as well as teams from the two charities and Prosperity 24.7.

Chris Clark, Chief Executive Officer of Prosperity 24/7 said, “Once again we are incredibly grateful to everyone involved in our annual community event for giving their time and energy to help us to raise an incredible amount to benefit two phenomenal charities. Many of our corporate teams come back year after year to help us make a difference to those who need it and it’s been great to see some newcomers this year adding a new dimension to the corporate rivalry.”

“We started Prosperity Day because we wanted to do something that made a difference. We could not have imagined the positive impact we’ve had on so many people’s lives. It is simply incredible what the local business community has managed to achieve together, since we started the event in 2015.”

Prosperity Day is back for 2025! Prosperity 24/7’s annual charity fundraising event will once again see corporate rivals pedalling furiously to win on race day and top the leaderboard with their fundraising total.

Since the first event in 2015, the event has raised almost £185,000 thanks to the teams of corporate rivals who have taken part since the beginning, many of them coming back year after year. The charities set to benefit from this year’s event are Kezia’s Fund and Macmillan Cancer Support Jersey.

Prosperity Day will once again take place at Prosperity 24/7 ‘s waterfront headquarters on Friday 27th June with up to 18 teams, with three cyclists in each, going ‘head to head to head’ in a fast-paced virtual cycling challenge. Using Wahoo KICKR bikes and emulated Race technology, the teams will compete against each other to gain race day points which are then added to their all-important fundraising totals, the combined scores define who gets to top the podium. So, whilst it is important how well the teams do on race day, they could still be beaten across the line, thanks to the fundraising efforts of competitors. There are three registrations fees available, bronze, silver and gold, enabling the teams to kickstart their fundraising, depending on how ambitious they are feeling. All each team needs are three able riders and a keenness to raise as much money as possible for Macmillan Cancer Support Jersey and Kezia’s Fund.

Chris Clark, Prosperity’s CEO said,

We’re excited to run Prosperity Day once more in 2025 with the critical goal to raise essential funds for two incredible local charities that mean so much to our island community. Many of our corporate teams have scores to settle after previous years, and will do so with a smile on their faces, whilst they give it their all for charity.

We started Prosperity Day because we wanted to do something that made a difference. We could not have imagined the positive impact we’ve had on so many people’s lives. It is simply incredible what the local business community has managed to achieve together, since we started the event in 2015.

Prosperity 24/7 is taking its focus on the community to another level for 2023 and putting in more mileage than ever before to support local charities. Whether that be supporting an Atlantic row, taking on a virtual stage of the Tour de France, hitting Jersey’s roads to look for tortoises or taking on Jersey’s biggest cycling race, Prosperity 24/7 will be there.

Having raised more than £135,000 for charity over the past eight years through its annual cycling event, Prosperity Day, this year they are adding the Gran Fondo Jersey to their event calendar as lead sponsor.

The Gran Fondo Jersey is the biggest mass participation cycling event in Jersey, taking place on Sunday 23rd April to raise funds for Jersey Cheshire Homes. There are two categories; the 110km sport event for more serious cyclists and the 70km classic event which is open to e-bikes and cyclists looking for a personal challenge.

Prosperity Day itself will be back later in the year but this time at their new waterfront premises, with new equipment and corporate teams once again challenging themselves to take on a virtual section of the Tour de France for charity.

On top of all that, Prosperity continues to support Durrell and Macmillan Jersey through their sponsorship of Dragonfish Row and their finance director, Peter Wright who was part of the rowing pair along with Steve Hayes. They will be hosting a fireside chat with the team for guests at an invitation only event to find out more about the highs and lows of their incredible 3000 miles Atlantic row and hope to continue to help them reach their £50,000 target.

As part of their ongoing support of Durrell, Prosperity is also adopting a tortoise sculpture as part of the Tortoise Takeover Trail happening over the summer. In addition, they are sponsoring a small tortoise for the children of Les Landes primary school to decorate with a design that reflects the ethos of their school.

Chris Clark, Chief Executive Officer of Prosperity 24/7 said,

We believe that if we look after our clients, colleagues, and community equally, we will all prosper. By supporting these incredible events in Jersey’s calendar this year, we feel we are living up to our ethos. All these events will help us all to go the extra mile for these important charities.

This Valentine’s Day we shared our love for our clients in the form of a seed grenade. A curious demonstration of love we know, but we hope it’s enough for you to support nature in your back garden or balcony.

Prosperity 24/7 were delighted to be selected to work closely with Durrell to implement systems that would connect their international teams in remote locations, securely capture, store and share critical data and enable quick and efficient monitoring and reporting. But Durrell’s local work is just as important as its international work and we want you to think the same way about your garden by recording the species living in the pollinator patch which your seed grenade will grow into this summer.

Once your seedbom is blooming, register your pollinator friendly area with the Jersey Biodiversity Centre, record what you find and mark your contribution to saving local species from extinction.

In the meantime, find out more about the sustainable ecosystem of technology we delivered for Durrell.

Sunday 10 October was World Mental Health Day and at Prosperity 24/7, the wellbeing of our team is something we take seriously. Working in a technology business we can’t help but be constantly connected to our devices, but we understand the importance of switching off and having some real time off. So, we strongly encourage our colleagues to regularly take a break and have a digital detox.

A week ago, we all had a small, enforced detox from social media as Facebook’s platforms went down for 6 hours, how did it make you feel? Were you desperate for them to come back online and constantly checking your phone or did you breathe a sigh of relief and try something else instead?

What is a digital detox?

We’ve all done it. January comes round each year and we’re all flat out juicing and exercising to shed a few pounds and clear out the excesses left over from the festive season. Well, a digital detox is the same thing. It’s clearing your life of your tech devices to make way for some real-life connection and let go of some of the stress and anxiety that often comes with constant connectivity.

Why do a digital detox?

According to the American Psychological Association a fifth of US adults cited technology use as a significant source of stress in their lives. The ever-present digital connection, constant need to check emails, social media and messages, the regular ping of app notifications accounted for the majority of this stress. A Swedish research study found that heavy use of technology was also linked to sleep problems, depression symptoms and increased stress levels.

So why detox? You’ll sleep better. You’ll boost your productivity. You’ll increase your attention span. You’ll be happier and you’ll strengthen your real-life relationships.

How do you know if you need to detox?

If you find yourself doing some of the following things, then you know it’s time for a break.

You obsessively check your social media feeds – FOMO or Fear of Missing Out is fed by constant connectivity. You fear that you’re missing out on something important. As we’re ‘always on’ expected response time has also sped up. Or maybe your friend’s latest post about what a great time they are having can make you feel like your life is less exciting or that you are missing out on similar experience.

You have a hard time sleeping – heavy device use, particularly before bed can interfere with sleep quality and quantity. Primarily driven by keep the brain being kept awake by the ‘blue light’ of screens and not going by the natural progress of daylight to night time.

You aren’t getting as much done as you’d like each day – you find yourself losing focus because you’re picking up your phone too often and get easily distracted by income emails or messages.

Your phone has become the centre of your universe. You find it harder to stay in the moment and can’t focus with the person you’re with in real life. When you post to social media you are pre-occupied with every like, share or comment. The first thing you do in the morning is pick up your phone or the thought of losing your phone fills you with anxiety.

Top tips for detoxing

No electronics when you first wake up – If your first reflex is to check your phone as soon as you wake up then it’s a sign that it’s taking over your life. The moment you wake up is the moment your brain is at its freshest. Use this time wisely.

Stop all smartphone notifications (except calls or important stuff) – You don’t need it pinging away constantly at you when you want to focus.

Have phone free zones such as the bedroom or during meal times.

Use a real alarm clock and a real watch to help you to be notification free and have less temptation to pick up your phone.

Select a time when you disconnect. At least half an hour before bed is a good time to allow your head to wind down and clear out. Too much blue light from your screens just before bed can disturb your sleep.

Accept the FOMO – the fear of missing out is what keeps us hooked to our phones. Our social anxiety led by our desire to stay connected with what others our doing means we are constantly checking.

Try something new offline – take up a new sport or a creative hobby.

Plan your detox – think about how you would rather spend your time and who with. Detox together with your friends or family.

Use time limits and do not disturb time on your phone.

Make others aware that you are detoxing for a while and won’t be able to respond to messages immediately. Make a plan for how they can contact you if it’s urgent.

Sounds counterintuitive but try a detox app. These apps set challenges to help you to limit the access you have to your phone and set time limits.

Make sure you’re on holiday when you’re on holiday. Think about what you’ll do with your devices. Will you go offline for the full time or just a few hours each day?
